John 1:29-34
John came baptizing with water. The reason he came baptizing with water was that he (Jesus) might be revealed to Israel. (v31) When John did this the Holy Spirit came and stayed with Jesus. This testified to John that Jesus is truly the Son of God. Baptism is a way of saying I have a relationship with Jesus. The old has gone and the new has come. (2 Cor. 5:17). Baptism is an act of obedience. Mark 16:15-16 Jesus says that we need to be baptized. Even though baptism isn't what saves us He asked us to do it so we should be obedient to Him in doing that. A reason why baptism can not save you is found in Luke 23:43. Jesus says to one of the criminals beside Him that he will join Jesus in going to heaven. Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise." After that Jesus didn't get down off the cross, get the criminal, find a body of water, and then baptize him. No. Jesus baptized him with the Holy Spirit. Baptism is simply an act of obedience.

I was reading in John and I have been struggling with giving you all the "glory". As the 3rd Bebee I felt like I had to prove myself of something and since I keep getting off track and trying to do that I feel like a complete failure and I feel disgusting when I do things for my own glory. I know I can't fix that on my own and I have given this up to you completely so I trust that you will be faithful to complete that in me. Okay, In John 3:30 John the Baptist is speaking to a Jew about ceremonial washing. He was wondering why Joh was baptizing people. John started telling the Jew that those from heaven can only receive things from heaven and those on earth receive earthly things. Then John said, "He must become greater, I must become less." John3:30 That is my prayer Lord that you would be lifted up and that I would remain small!

God,
Today was awesome! Nina and I were almost done with cabin book and Amanda came up to us. She asked if she could show us her favorite verse in the Bible. We said of course. She read to us John 3:16. We asked what it meant to her and her response was awesome. Then Nina shared her favorite verses Jer 29:11-14 and then shared a little about that. Then I showed her mine Psalm 51:10-13. I talked about how once God has given us a pure heart and has renewed our spirit He will speak through us and the lost will know You! She had a smile on her face the whole time and responded well to what we said or you said rather. Then, well, okay...we have a list of girls who are supposed to talk to. I knew Lainey was on my list so I asked her today if she died where would she go. She pointed up and said HEAVEN! I asked her why or how she knew that and she said that its because she's accepted Christ into her heart and she's been baptized. I asked if she had a relationship with you and she said YES! Awesome, then I saw Devin reading her bible. I asked what she was reading and she said she was looking up the theme verse. I sat down on her bunk and mentioned that it would be cool if she had it memorized by the end of the week. The next time I walked by her bed I heard her reading the verse out loud trying to memorize it. That was totally awesome! Thank you God for allowing me to be your vessel. It brings me great joy. Thank you God for everything.

You are such an awesome God! I love the way you work! I joined in with Kira and her extended Cabin wrap with the Masters and it was awesome. Thank you for being who you are and loving us and giving us your grace. Your ways are perfect and they protect us. They allow us to have perfect fun and I look forward to the things you have in store for me. I love you and I worship you with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength! I love you and I can't thank you enough for your love and mercy and grace. The list goes on. I love you and I thank you for everything!

God,
Its been 5 months since the last entry and a lot has happened. Julia is back in Germany, John and I have become really good friends, we're moving to San Angelo, I've been a counselor at Camp Buckner, I've been to Alabama for M-Fuge, and I leave tomorrow for Lakey. Julia grew strong in you and I am eager to hear from her the things that you are going to do through her. I miss her like crazy but I'll be okay. You have totally given me John and my friendship. That was an awkward sentence. I didn't know how to word it. But I can see your work in my relationship with John. He took me to Fiesta Texas on Thurs the 12. After that we ate up in the tower. He brought a briefcase. It made me nervous. Anyways, we got up there and after we ordered he opened his briefcase. He pulled out a vase. He then took out 3 white roses and put them in the vase. Then he took out a piece of paper. He wrote me a poem! He read it to me and then he gave me a card. Then he pulled out the book "My Utmost for His Highest" and gave it to me. WOW! This is the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me. But I know how you work God when it comes to me and boys. I didn't feel all ooglie googlie which bothered me b/c this is the most romantic thing ever and I felt just whatever. But I know that those feelings were from you because it is not yet time for whatever's next. In fact, you're making it easier for me to say goodbye. Thank you God for protecting me. I got back from Buckner a week ago. It was great but I don't think that Buckner is where you want me. I'm not sure. I'll have to pray about it. I also went to M-Fuge and that was awesome. That was my opportunity to step out and live this new "me" that you had formed over the past year. It was cool. Tomorrow I leave with FBC of LH for their church camp in Lakey. Dad's the pastor. That's why I'm going. I'm excited to see what you will do there. Then I go to New Mexico with the group in San Angelo. I pray that you will help me to make some friends there. I pray that you will move these next two weeks especially. I finished the book "A Case for Christ" by Lee Strobel. It is an awesome book. I really liked it. If an Atheist read that book I don't see how they could continue to believe that there is no God or Son of God. Anyways, I pray that you will send a buyer for our house and all the other pieces of property we own. I thank you God for everything you have done for me. You know, I picked up this journal and started reading what I had written almost a year ago. It's weird reading the beginning and knowing the ending. Like on the day 8/16/00 I remember that because the following monday is when everything hit me hard and I began this year long trial and test and a life lesson that you were teaching me. It hurt but it felt so good. Anyways, now how I can look back and see the beginning but know the ending it's exciting because I see how you worked. Thanks God for everything. I love you.

God,
You have been doing so much in my life and I just want to take the time to write it all down. Towards the end of school you sort of kicked me out of my comfort zone. Derek made the comment that I never heard about any of the FCA meetings and the captain sits at our table! I felt horrible. So, for the FCA retreat I went to every table and told them about the meeting. I was scared but you were with me. During that time you taught me to see others through your eyes. That makes it easier to love people. Well, as my love grew for the lost I went to M-Fuge again this year and it was awesome. We went to Mobile, Alabama. I was in creative ministries. We put on a program for kids and senior adults. They loved it. The first day I talked to a girl named Lelanie. We were doing a puzzle together. I started talking to her hoping for an opportunity to tell her about you and Jesus and what you did for us. The chance never came. Well, I didn't feel like you wanted me too anyway. I kept praying that you would give me the words to say. Harmony, our leader, said it was time to go. I was so disappointed and I felt guilty. But later you just gave me a peace about the whole thing. You reminded me that maybe in that moment, all Lelanie needed was a friend. That was great. Then the next day at the nursing home I saw how you restored Zelda and gave her joy even though she is all alone in this world. Then later seeing a 98 year old man close his eyes, clap and praise you just made me smile. To think when I'm that old you still won't have changed and I will still praise you. M-Fuge was a chance to get out of my comfort zone completely and practice being social, get to know people and talk to them. It was totally you God. Also, in the past couple of months I have become really good friends with John. We hang out together and have awesome conversations. His mom is the coolest. She joins in on our conversation. We have awesome fellowship. It's so great to have a friend like him. Also, I'm at Buckner now!! It's awesome, and the kids are great! It's so awesome to teach them things. Also, this past year and the friendship I made with Julia was the greatest ever! She and her family are a blessing to me! Thank you God for giving her to me. I needed a friend like her this past year. God, I still want to love you more. My focus isn't always on you and I want it to be. I want to stop trying to impress anyone else and start bringing you glory in everything I do. I want to worship you completely. I know deep down that I truly do mean the words but then I start singing for others to hear me or for others to think "wow she really worships her God." I just want to come before you honestly and love you and praise you. I love you God.

I have been reading the Old Testament and I just wanted to write down what I've learned. Joshua pretty much made sure the Israelites carried out the covenant of Moses. Joshua led them in battle as they were to abolish every town. Joshua died and then the Israelites didn't finish taking over the land. In result their children grew up and worshiped false gods. The Lord did not aid the Israelites in battle any longer. They cried out in distress and God relieved them for 40 years. Every time Israel had another chance they'd go back to their evil ways. Then they'd call on the Lord and He'd relieve them. Now Ehud just killed fat fat Eglon (king of Moab). That was an interesting story. Well, I'm going to go to sleep now. I love you and I thank you for teaching me your word!

*Rally/diner

Sunday-
Woke up at 6:45. Went to breakfast and then a rally. It was awesome. Had a Quiet time then went with track group (Social Ministries) to our room. We had Bible Study then our track. We didn't go on site b/c we learned and practiced how to witness and deal w/ people. We ate lunch then back to track time. Then we had free time. After that we ate dinner then had worship then church group. Then we went back to worship. Went to dorms. Talked w/ Sara and Ashley. Stayed up until 3:15 in the morning talking w/ Ashley.
Monday
Woke up at 7:15 and went to breakfast. Went to Rally then Quiet time. After that our group (the Elliots) went to Feed the Children, a big warehouse. There we packed about 760 boxes of food which provides 7 meals for a family of four. That was fun. Then we had free time.

God,
I really want to write this down so I won't forget. I have a lot to write. First of all, I know why Candice isn't here. You did that so that I could make friends here. Strong ones. Thank you God. I do wish Candice could be here but I know that this is your plan. OK...2nd is Manny. On the way up here he acted real rude to others and moody. Well, last night God really spoke to him. He apologized and kind of told us how he has been acting lately and what God is doing in his life. I was bawling the whole time. Later on I talked to Manny. It was great. Thank you God for the friendships I have made here and continue to allow me to get closer and feel more comfortable. I love you.

Tonight was great. In the youth group meeting everyone shared what God was doing in their lives. Carly and Anthony talked about how they needed to take off their masks and be the person they are. Afterwards Carly came over and gave me a long hug. Then she said she needed to talk to me. She told me that she watched me this week and she noticed the little things that I did. Well, apparently it wasn't me, it was you working through me. Somehow you revealed to Carly what she needed to hear or learn through me. It felt great to be a part of this youth group in some way. We have become such good friends this past week. We've worked together and other things. Thank you God for this. I love you so much and I want to give myself to your service. I love you.

Today we had bible study. Later on I was trying to put all my thoughts together. Well, I was thinking about how we are capable of being perfect. You were perfect and you are in us. If we abide 24/7 then we shouldn't sin because you won't sin through us. Also, I was thinking what I would say f someone asked me why I memorize scripture. I saw it as if I were a library. You choose what you want to use from that library. For example, when I go out into the world and you want to use me you use what I have attained. You are totally capable of quoting the Bible through me w/out me but you gave us freedom to choose. If I fill my mind with good things and scripture then you can have a bigger 'library'. That's what I would say. I hide scripture in my heart so that you will bring it to mind when I need it.

I need self discipline. I eat too much. Also, I'm not really exercising. I'm gaining weight. God, please give me a healthy discipline when it comes to food. I'm getting miserable. Sunday-
Woke up at 6:45. Went to breakfast and then a rally. It was awesome. Had a Quiet time then went with track group (Social Ministries) to our room. We had Bible Study then our track. We didn't go on site b/c we learned and practiced how to witness and deal w/ people. We ate lunch then back to track time. Then we had free time. After that we ate dinner then had worship then church group. Then we went back to worship. Went to dorms. Talked w/ Sara and Ashley. Stayed up until 3:15 in the morning talking w/ Ashley.
Monday
Woke up at 7:15 and went to breakfast. Went to Rally then Quiet time. After that our group (the Elliots) went to Feed the Children, a big warehouse. There we packed about 760 boxes of food which provides 7 meals for a family of four. That was fun. Then we had free time.

I really want to write this down so I won't forget. I have a lot to write. First of all, I know why Candice isn't here. You did that so that I could make friends here. Strong ones. Thank you God. I do wish Candice could be here but I know that this is your plan. OK...2nd is Manny. On the way up here he acted real rude to others and moody. Well, last night God really spoke to him. He apologized and kind of told us how he has been acting lately and what God is doing in his life. I was bawling the whole time. Later on I talked to Manny. It was great. Thank you God for the friendships I have made here and continue to allow me to get closer and feel more comfortable. I love you.

Tonight was great. In the youth group meeting everyone shared what God was doing in their lives. Carly and Anthony talked about how they needed to take off their masks and be the person they are. Afterwards Carly came over and gave me a long hug. Then she said she needed to talk to me. She told me that she watched me this week and she noticed the little things that I did. Well, apparently it wasn't me, it was you working through me. Somehow you revealed to Carly what she needed to hear or learn through me. It felt great to be a part of this youth group in some way. We have become such good friends this past week. We've worked together and other things. Thank you God for this. I love you so much and I want to give myself to your service. I love you.

Tonight Allan spoke of Abraham and his son Isaac. When God told him to 'take your son and go and sacrifice him' Abraham got up early and went. For 3 days they went until they came upon the mountain that God wanted them to go up. They went up and then they both began to build the altar. Then Abraham bound Isaac with ropes, laid him on the altar and then the angel of the Lord said, "Abraham, Abraham." He then told him that he knows that he fears God and God sent a ram. The point is that in the midst of regular life Abraham heard God when he asked him to sacrifice his son and when he was all upset or tense; at the time of him killing his son Abraham heard him. Also, when he was walking up the mountain the ram was walking up the other side. In other words, God can see everything and has a perfect plan.

Andrea is here and me, Andrea, and Dad just had a discussion on predestination. It was confusing. Dad went to bed and Andrea and I kept talking. We read through Romans 9 which she explained to me on the way. I understand it a little better now. She told me that I have entered into the most deep subject of the Bible. That made me feel a little better about not really understanding it. Thank you God for your mercy and grace. Your compassion and kindness. Thank you God for choosing me. I love God. Thank you for sending me your son so that I may join you in heaven. Thank you.

God,
Once again I thank you for your grace and mercy. This past Easter weekend we vacationed in Rockport. We slept in 3 different places for the 3 nights we were there and a guy robbed us. He stole $450. Also, he stole it while we were sleeping. Thank you God for making us sleep deep and not wake up. Just the idea that he was in the house with us gives me the creeps. Well, we reported it to the cops and they said they knew who it probably was. A man had served his "dead" time and was out on parole. He had hit other houses along the beach too. My mom asked what he had been in jail for and the cops said "you don't want to know." That is even freakier but since you are in control it calms everything down. Thank you God for your mercy and allowing only money to get stolen. I love you God.

Well, we joined FBC of GT today. It was great. Then I went to choir tonight at 4:45. It was great. We are doing "The Message". The same program we did several years ago at Hillcrest. We are going to be singing it for churches along the way to Tennessee. Also, we are supposed to close tomorrow on the house we are going to buy. I'm excited. I can't wait to move in. It's so good to know that we will finally be settled down. Unless, of course, you have something else up your sleeve. You'll let us know. Thank you God for choosing me. There are some things that I don't really understand (predestination) but that is when faith steps in. Thank you God for always being there for me.

Tonight Allan spoke of Abraham and his son Isaac. When God told him to 'take your son and go and sacrifice him' Abraham got up early and went. For 3 days they went until they came upon the mountain that God wanted them to go up. They went up and then they both began to build the altar. Then Abraham bound Isaac with ropes, laid him on the altar and then the angel of the Lord said, "Abraham, Abraham." He then told him that he knows that he fears God and God sent a ram. The point is that in the midst of regular life Abraham heard God when he asked him to sacrifice his son and when he was all upset or tense; at the time of him killing his son Abraham heard him. Also, when he was walking up the mountain the ram was walking up the other side. In other words, God can see everything and has a perfect plan.

Tonight at Dez's house we nailed more troubles and joys to the cross. Then we prayed. I realized how special and important she is to me and LH. Then, I'm reading Phil and the first few verses remind me of her. You are so awesome b/c just today I wanted to write a new meaningful (they are all meaningful) scripture on this sign for Dez and here it is. Thanks! This is so COOL! Assets Can Become Liabilities
Philippians 3:1-7
God wants us to be a PVC pipe so he can flow through us to accomplish what He wants in this world.
l. When Confidence is in Others (vs 2-3)
Jesus + nothing = salvation
No confidence in the flesh
Don't put your confidence in your role models.
ll. When Confidence is in Self (vs 4-6)
Geneology has nothing to do with our relationship w/ God.
A. Regardless of Position (vs 4-5)
God only has children; not grandchildren. God doesn't evaluate us according to our parents.
B. Regardless of Sincerity (vs 6)
Paul-If I have almost every reason to be confident in me but I don't then why should you.
lll. Unless Confidence is in Christ (vs 1, 7)
If I am my reference point then an asset becomes a liability.
If I do all I can for Christ and place my confidence in that then assets become liabilities.
If we can trust God w/ our eternity then why can't we place our trust in Him tomorrow?
